Welsh Culture

What makes Welsh culture so fantastic is it's unity and togetherness.  The communities of Wales are closely knit and well guarded with residents being very friendly with each other.  In the main cities the days are gone where strangers walked around and said hello to each other and asked if they were alright.  In the valleys and small Welsh communities the days are alive and well.  It is not uncommon to say good morning to the average Joe you might meet on the street.

There are many sides to the culture of Wales going back to the days of coal mining in small villages.  One of these aspects is the drinking side of things!  There is nothing more enjoyable than a night out in a Welsh pub.  Find a really traditional one and you might find the entire set of locals singing Welsh carols!  I found myself in this situation once in a pub in Glynneath a few years back and even though I live in Wales it was quite surreal.

You can find another side of culture in the churches of Wales.  There is a strong christian following in many towns and villages.  The church goers wake Sunday morning and dress in their best ready for the midday fellowship.  Many of the churches here are many hundreds of years old and very pretty.

While these two may not mix well with each other it's true they are both very strong sides of Welsh culture.
