Walking Snowdon - The Miners Track and the PYG Track

Our day starts driving up to the Youth Hostel at Pen-y-Pass, Llanberis, Gwynedd. The morning was absolutely beautiful and the sky was clear blue. We were all strapped up in sensible walking clothessturdy walking boots and much need walking poles. Lunch and extra layers were all packed in our rucksacks and away we went!

We couldn’t help but stop at Pen-y-Gwryd to take a picture of the lake that looked like a sheet of glass and was absolutely breathtaking.

Walking up the Llanberis Path to Mount Snowdon

Walks and Walking Snowdon in Wales along the Llanberis Path.

I completed this walk last March 2010 when there had been quite a bit of snow, although the day we walked The Llanberis Path the weather was absolutely fantastic; crystal clear blue skies and wonderful fresh air.

I highly recommend you ensure you have the correct equipment for this walk at this time of year; sensible layers, a windproof jacket, gloves, woolly hat, sturdy walking boots with a vibram solewalking poles and ice axes just in case.

For this walk I decided to wear my bright red Bear Grylls jacket and walking trousers from the Bear Grylls Survival Clothing range.

Why I Love Living In Abersoch, Wales

Abersoch, Wales

Abersoch is a small village in the North West part of Wales right on the beach.  It is a very pretty place with both the sea and views of Snowdonia in the distance.    In the centre you can find a good selection of restaurants, pubs and shops.

Being a sleepy little village is one thing but we know how to have fun too!  Sports are a big part of most people's lives here.  We like to do wind surfing, jet skiing, and playing golf.  Just this New Years day we had a mass dip in the sea in the icy sea waters.  What a great way to start the new year off with a kick!

It is in an ancient village dating back to the 5th century.  Being a coastal town fishing has always been a big part of life as with many other places up and down the country next to the sea.  Nowadays it's not such a big part of things but it is still in action by a select few.

There are plenty of events happening close to the town all year round and there are great days out to be had too.

Abersoch - it's got it all right on it's door step, why not come and visit us on holiday?  There is plenty of accommodation near by including picturesque campsites and b&b's.  Plus what could beat a beautiful North Wales cottage?!

Here's a great video of the beach in Abersoch from 1960
